On Saturday the Bundesliga’s returned to the pitch and resumed the season which was on halt since March due to global pandemic.

Hertha Berlin midfielder Marko Grujic was kissed on the cheek by teammate Dedryck Boyata to celebrate a goal from Hoffenheim’s Kevin Akpoguma.

Teams will not be fined for breaking social distance guidelines while celebrating goals, stated the German Football League (DFL).

It says players are told to maintain their distance, but it is not purely followed guidance.

The spokesperson said: “It was something that was merely recommended in the guidance, but on the issue of goal celebrations sanctions are not required.”

Hertha coach Bruno Labbadia added: “I hope people outside understand this. Holding back is only a recommendation.”

“We’ve been tested six times negative, most recently yesterday. Emotions are part of that as well. Then there’s no sense in playing the game.”
