In spite of only eight games left in the Championship, Middlesbrough has adequately replaced Jonathan Woodgate despite Neil Warnock.

Woodgate was dismissed early on Tuesday, with immediate effect from the former Cardiff City boss Warnock taking charge.

On Tuesday Woodgate was removed with an instant result from the former Cardiff City boss Warnock taking charge.

“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Jonathan for all his work in the role of head coach,” the club confirmed via a brief statement.

With just eight matches remaining and on goal difference just above the relegation zone, Boro is 21st in the Championship table.

Swansea City defeated them 3-0 at their home, last Saturday, in their first match since March’s coronavirus pandemic forced season suspension.

At the Riverside Stadium, Woodgate concluded his playing career, he was only appointed last June as head coach.

Warnock struggled to keep Warnock from being relegated to the second tier last season. He left Cardiff last November having brought the Bluebirds to the Premier League in 2018.

The first game in charge of the 71-year-old will be away to Stoke City on Saturday.
