Brazil Under-23s will face Ivory Coast Under-23s on Sunday in Yokohama after both teams won their opening games in midweek. The South American Under-23 champions easily defeated Germany last time and the Ivorians humiliated outsiders Saudi Arabia. Here is everything you need to know about Brazil vs Ivory Coast prediction for the Tokyo Olympics Men’s football games.

Team news

Brazil has a deep and versatile squad to choose from despite the withdrawal of Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes and Marseille newcomer Gerson from the squad prior to departure.

However, head coach Andre Jardine is expected to stick with the starting lineup from the first game.

Matheus Cunha had a penalty saved in first-half stoppage time against Germany as his team had to settle for a three-goal lead at the break, and he also missed other chances but will almost certainly start again.

In their usual 4-3-3 formation, Richarlison will be supported by any two of Paulinho, Antony, and ex-Barcelona winger Malcolm.

Ivory Coast

As Maccabi Netanya forward Aboubacar Doumbia was sent off late in the second half of their win over Saudi Arabia and will miss out on a spot on the bench while serving a suspension, Ivory Coast will be forced to make at least one change.

On the other hand, the starting XI should remain unchanged, with Manchester United teenager Amad Diallo set to keep his spot on the right flank, while Max Gradel targets any space left by Dani Alves’ raiding runs on the opposite side.

Brazil vs Ivory Coast Prediction

Brazil has qualified for seven Olympic football competitions, claiming two bronzes, three silvers, and finally gold at Rio 2016, out of the last nine played at the Olympic games. As self-appointed guardians of the beautiful game, they take their quest for medals very seriously.

Even a capable Ivory Coast team will struggle to keep them at bay for the full 90 minutes and unsurprisingly Brazil cannot stop scoring right now given their abundance of attacking talent.

In fact, the Selecao should score at least twice, as their deep bench is capable of providing fresh impetus if any of the front three falters or loses form – a place in the quarter-finals is almost guaranteed.

Brazil Under-23s possible starting lineup:

Santos; Alves, Carlos, Nino, Guilherme; Luiz, Guimaraes, Claudinho; Paulinho, Richarlison, Cunha

Ivory Coast Under-23s possible starting lineup:

Tape; Singo, Bailly, Dabila, I. Diallo; A. Diallo, I. Doumbia, Kessie, Eboue, Gradel; Kouame

Our Prediction: Brazil Under-23s 2-1 Ivory Coast Under-23s
