Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the outfield player of the Gunners who will be the strongest in goal in an emergency, said Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Leno has been with Arsenal since 2018 after having made the switch from Bayer Leverkusen to the Emirates. Making 66 appearances for the team over his two London seasons in all competitions, he went on to pin down a place as No 1 of the team.
Leno also crossed Aubameyang to be the most well-equipped outfield star to offer goalkeeping gloves.
During a Reddit Ask Me Anything, Leno said “I think it’s Auba,”
“I don’t really know about his quality as a goalkeeper-I don’t know who may be the best but I’ve seen Auba making some decent saves after practicing in free-kick competitions a couple of times.”
“I was really impressed and if I had a red card he might be a good choice and we’ve just made three changes.
“If I wasn’t a goalkeeper, I’d play as a center back. First of all, I don’t like running! You’re not doing it as much as anyone else. I just enjoy challenging, fighting, so I guess this role matches me because I’m a bit stronger as a defender.”
