Benzema is no more with France Squad for World Cup 2022. Karim Benzema, a forward for Real Madrid and France, will not compete in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. Benzema reportedly suffered an injury during practice earlier on Saturday, only days before France’s opening match against Australia on Tuesday, 22 November. According to reports, the French medical team was prepared to assess the severity of Benzema’s injuries. However, the Real Madrid player will not be able to participate in the FIFA World Cup due to a thigh injury, according to the Mirror.

The loss of Benzema is a big setback for France as they attempt to defend their World Cup in Qatar. Over the past few years, the 34-year-old attacker has performed admirably for both his club and nation. He received the 2022 Ballon d’Or last month thanks to his recent success for Real Madrid. The player’s injury is a major setback for both France and the individual player. In his illustrious career, the former Olympique Lyonnais player has participated in just one FIFA World Cup, which took place in 2014. He was absent from the 2018 Les Bleus team that won the championship.

However, the France international has struggled with ailments throughout the 2022–23 campaign. Before their suspension of club football for the World Cup, he sustained a muscular injury while playing for Real Madrid. In 12 appearances for Los Blancos this season across all competitions, the forward has scored six goals.

Karim Benzema’s absence will leave a significant gap in France’s offensive line for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, Didier Deschamps’ team has some excellent attacking options that can make up for Benzema’s absence. In the team, Kylian Mbappe continues to be France’s greatest attacking player. In 20 games across all competitions, the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward has been in superb form for his club, scoring 19 goals and dishing out five assists.

Additionally, France’s roster includes players like Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, and Ousmane Dembele. With 49 goals for France, Giroud is only two goals behind Thierry Henry, the country’s all-time leading scorer.

On the other side, Griezmann has a successful track record at the FIFA World Cup. At the 2018 World Cup, the Atletico Madrid player scored four times, including a goal against Croatia in the championship match. Group D of the competition features France, Australia, Denmark, and Tunisia. They are anticipated to advance to the knockout stages despite missing the Ballon d’Or winner.
