Bukayo Saka’s equalizer earned Arsenal a 1-1 draw with the Gunners missing several chances to snatch victory, in the first-leg of their Europa League last-32 clash with Benfica in Rome.

Skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was accused of ignoring the best of Arsenal’s chances, the worst of which, in an otherwise bad first half, was an absolute sitter.

However, after the break, the game burst into life with Emile Smith Rowe managing in the penalty area to concede a penalty that this season’s leading goal scorer for the Europa League, Pizzi, scored to give his side a 55th minute lead.

As Saka executed an incisive pass to square it up the advantage lasted for less than two minutes, but after Aubameyang wasted another magnificent opportunity again, the Gunners settled for a draw to take the second leg.

Benfica – Arsenal 1-1

Goals: Pizzi (55P), Saka (57).

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
