Real Madrid is closing in on the transfer of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, with a reported €100 million deal agreed between both clubs and the player.
According to Marca and other Spanish media, the transfer could be announced in 24 hours.
According to widespread reports, Real Madrid and Monaco completed advanced talks over the transfer earlier in the week, and a deal is all but done.
Real Madrid beat off competition for Aurelien Tchouameni
The Athletic report that the transfer fee will surpass €100m, and just the paperwork and formalities need to be completed.
Over the last few weeks, there has been plenty of interest in Tchouameni.
With the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool vying for his signature.
Real Madrid had their sights set on signing Kylian Mbappe from PSG.
But once that deal fell through after Mbappe decided to extend his contract at the French champions.
The Spaniards had their money to spend elsewhere.
The drama between the two clubs didn’t end there. After Mbappe extended, PSG wanted to get over Real Madrid again by signing Tchouameni, which complicated matters for the Spanish capital club.
Now, though, Real Madrid is set to get their man.
This is an indication of how adamant he is about getting the deal done for the player.
Tchouameni joined Monaco from Bordeaux in 2018 and has made 95 appearances for the club.
He Helped them secure Champions League qualification – albeit in the knockout rounds – in the 2021/22 season.
Should the deal go through, he will be Monaco’s second most expensive departure.
Following Mbappe’s move to PSG back in 2018.
In my opinion, Real Madrid makes a smart move to secure their midfield’s future.
Casemiro is now in his 30s, and Madrid needs to reinforce their midfield.
Last season they bought Camavinga, who is 12 years younger than Toni Kroos.
