Mark Delaney, head coach of Aston Villa has spoken out about their defeat to Liverpool (1-4) in FA Cup third-round.

The Birmingham side played a youth squad due to a coronavirus outbreak in the team.

“We are all – club, coaches, players – very proud. There was a tremendous effort given what the players went through. We scored a good goal and deserved to equalize (1-1),” said Delaney to BBC.

“We knew they would have a lot of possession and probably score a quick goal. But we responded well and helped each other. We didn’t have a big territorial advantage.”

“We have a very young under-23 team. Sometimes we concede quick goals, but today we showed that we are a solid team.”

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
