Antoine Griezmann rejoined Atletico Madrid on loan

Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann has rejoined Atletico Madrid on loan. The Frenchman was speculated to make a football transfer to the La Liga champions in a swap deal. Barca was close to exchange Griezmann with Saul Niguez. The club’s press office reported the football news that Antoine Griezmann has been officially presented as an Atletico Madrid player at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium

Earlier, the 30-year-old has played at Atletico Madrid from 2014 to 2019. After coming back to the former club the France international will wear the number 8 shirt. In his previous spell, Griezmann has scored 94 goals in 180 appearances. Leaving Madrid he joined the Catalan club in 2019 for a fee of 120 million euros. Griezmann represented Barcelona between 2019 and 2021. Last season, in La Liga, Griezmann played 36 games scoring 13 goals and making 7 assists.

This summer Los Colchoneros brought him back on loan with an option to buy for €40m. Atletico Madrid forward who re-joined the club this summer has been officially presented at the Wanda Metropolitano. The Frenchman at the press conference said, “I am very happy, I have a smile from ear to ear. I haven’t slept for ten days waiting for this moment. I absolutely enjoy it.”

“I will give everything as it has always been my style of play on the pitch. I will give everything for the fans, whether they’re at the ground or watching on TV. I want them to know that I’ll try and make them proud. We had a great relationship and it’s something I want to have again. I know that’s down to me, and I’ll give my all to ensure that happens – it’s actions rather than words,” – he added, Marca reports.

When Barcelona wanted to offload Griezmann as part of their efforts to re-sign Lionel Messi, Chelsea was described as the most active’ club to secure the Frenchman’s signature.
