Sergio Agüero announced his departure from Manchester City at the end of the season and the club will celebrate the contribution of the striker to the team’s history.
A statue will be erected next to the club’s home stadium in honor of the Argentine striker, declared Manchester City president Khaldoon Al Mubarak. The club had earlier commended the performances of David Silva and Vincent Kompany, whose statues are currently being worked on.
A special mosaic honoring Agüero will also be installed at City’s academy.
“Sergio’s contribution to Man City’s history over the last 10 years is hard to overstate. He is a legend that will forever be remembered by everyone who loves our club and maybe even by those who just love football,” said Al Mubarak to official website of the club.
“The moment has not yet come for farewell words and speeches. There is still a lot we can achieve in the time we have with Sergio. We look forward to his contribution to the challenges ahead.”
“In the meantime, it gives me great pleasure to announce that we will commission a statue of Sergio, which will stand in our stadium next to the Silva and Kompany figures being worked on. We look forward to saying a fitting farewell to Sergio at the end of the season.”
